Fair Trade Shopping for Summer

Whether you’re still getting snowed on or starting to experience a little spring in your step, you may be thinking about spring and summer clothes.  If you need a piece or two to jump-start your wardrobe, here are some of my favorites that provide something pretty for me to wear and fair wages for women around the world.  (I pulled my favorite summer options from my Slave-Free Christmas campaign, so that’s why they have a big Christmas button on them.  Let’s just be proud of me for knowing how to upload a photo.)

The Open Arms Shop

I love these cutie patootie skirts made from upcycled teeshirts and stitched by refugees living in Texas.  They are just the right length, super soft, and perfect for a play date at the park.  I wear little bike shorts underneath so that I’m comfy when I’m chasing down my littles.

Sseko Designs

These sandals are made by Ugandan women earning money for university.  You can buy a base leather sandal, then mix and match different straps for an unlimited number of colors and patterns.  They even provide you with instructions on how to loop and tie your straps to make different kinds of sandals.

Purse and Clutch

These guys stock a gorgeous array of fair trade purses, providing jobs for women in India and Guatemala.  They have adorable clutches, over-the-shoulder, and cross-body bags for all your sunshiney needs.

Happy summer shopping, friends.
